Live Forex Charts - Their Importance

Many traders closely follow their live forex charts on their computers every day.

Forex trading is one of the most popular of all the many forms of trading. It is a highly liquid form of trading. Forex trading is very fast, and great wealth can be accrued in a matter of minutes.

Many traders closely follow their live forex charts on their computers every day. There are basically two types of forex price feeds. In one, prices are delayed by a certain interval; sometimes by minutes, hours, or even days.

The other type of price feed has prices fed to the trader’s charting software in real time. Traders who operate in longer time frames, such as investors and swing traders, are not usually very concerned about live prices.

Such a trader often waits weeks or months for a trade to get to the point where he wants it, so fifteen minutes is not likely to make much of a difference. For day traders, however, access to live charts is essential.

To get access to these live charts, a trader signs a contract with a provider, who will supply live prices to him. The prices will be fed into the trader’s charting software package.

The trader can then see charts showing every move in the price of the currency he is following, and several technical indicators he uses to inform his trading decisions. Access to live price quotes allows traders to chart all of these technical indicators in real time as well.

When using these live charts, traders can immediately tell when the price of a certain currency has risen above the moving average or when the RSI shows that the market has entered an overbought zone.

Professional traders use trading signals such as these on a regular basis, to help them form opinions about whether to enter or to exit specific trades. Lots of experienced traders use multiple technical indicators instead of just one.

For example, such a trader may choose to require that both the RSI and the MACD send buy signals for a trade before he opts to enter that trade. He may also have a rule to exit a trade only if two different indicators give send signals. Live forex charts are indispensible to the modern trader's toolbox.

Because the forex markets move so quickly, access to information in real time is often what it takes for a trader to turn what would be a losing trade into a winning trade.
